Our Sublimation Fabrics
We only recommend polyester-based fabrics for sublimation. Below are our two primary families of sublimation-friendly knits, each optimized for softness, stretch, and vibrant, long-lasting print results.
Why It Must Be Polyester
Sublimation ink bonds to polyester at the molecular level. It won't bond to cotton, rayon, or natural fibers. If the fabric isn't polyester, the print will look faded or wash out. This is non-negotiable: sublimation requires polyester.
Recommended Fabrics
Peached Polyester Spandex (85/15)
This family features a smooth outer face for sharp sublimation, with a soft peached interior for comfort. The 85/15 blend introduces spandex into the polyester knit, giving the fabric 4-way stretch—meaning it stretches both horizontally and vertically. This results in a flexible, form-fitting garment that moves with the body, retains its shape, and resists sagging or distortion over time. Peaching is applied only to the inside for added softness without compromising print clarity.

- 200 GSM (5.90 oz/yd²)
- 220 GSM (6.49 oz/yd²)
- 240 GSM (7.08 oz/yd²)
Scratch-Resistant Polyester Spandex (73/27)
This heavier-duty variant is engineered for abrasion resistance. The spandex-infused 4-way stretch ensures flexibility while the tighter, reinforced knit structure adds durability. Ideal for high-contact use cases where print performance and fabric resilience both matter.
- 270 GSM (7.96 oz/yd²)
SCUBA (85/15)
SCUBA is a thick, structured double-knit polyester spandex fabric with a smooth, sponge-like texture. It's often used when shape retention and a clean silhouette are key—like in outerwear, bomber jackets, or heavyweight esports jerseys. Though it visually resembles neoprene, it's lighter, stretchier, and fully sublimation-compatible. The 4-way stretch and 300 GSM weight give it a dense, premium feel without sacrificing flexibility.
- 300 GSM (8.85 oz/yd²)
Suplex (85/15)
Suplex blends combine the performance of polyester with the softness and natural feel of cotton. The 85/15 spandex blend enables true 4-way stretch for freedom of movement and reliable recovery. It’s matte, breathable, and exceptionally comfortable—great for athleisure or lifestyle apparel with full sublimation capability.

Polyester Interlock (100% Polyester)
Interlock is a stable, double-knit polyester with a smooth surface and subtle mechanical 2-way stretch. It’s less elastic than spandex blends but offers excellent dimensional stability and print sharpness. Best for designs that prioritize structure over flexibility, like uniforms or basics.

- 215 GSM (6.34 oz/yd²)
Fabrics That Won’t Work
Sublimation does not work on cotton, wool, rayon, or other natural fibers. It also performs poorly on ribbed, textured, or brushed surfaces. Stick with smooth-face polyester for best results. If you're unsure, test a swatch first.
