Logo Requirements for Embroidery
Embroidery isn't printing. Your logo needs to be converted into stitches—this guide shows you how to prepare it for clean, high-quality results on hats, polos, jackets, and more.
What Is Digitizing?
Embroidery machines can’t read normal image files. Your logo must be digitized—a process that converts artwork into a stitch map. We handle this for you, but your logo still needs to be embroidery-friendly before we convert it.
File Types
Upload your logo in AI, SVG, or high-res PNG format. Vector is preferred, but PNGs work if they’re clean. Avoid low-res JPGs or complex raster graphics—they're hard to stitch cleanly.
Simplifying Your Design
Embroidery has limits. Thin lines, gradients, and tiny text won’t stitch well. Simplify your logo by using bold shapes and removing fine detail. Blockier, high-contrast designs translate best.
Thread Color Limits
Most embroidery is limited to 1–6 thread colors. We can match your logo as closely as possible, but some shading or effects may need to be flattened. Metallics and neons may incur extra cost.
Minimum Size Guidelines
Keep small text at least 0.25" tall and avoid elements narrower than 1pt. If it's too small to read on a hat or polo, it won’t stitch well either.
